Dra Teresa Pellegrino is Principal Investigator at the Department of Drug Discovery and Development of the Instituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT, Genova, Italy).
Teresa got the PhD in Chemistry a the University of Bari (Italy) in 2005, at the Department of Pharmacology, at the research group of Prof. Natile, working on "Development of Nanocrystal-Biomolecule conjugates and their Biological Applications”. During her PhD, she was visiting scholar at the University of California (group of Prof. Alivisatos) and at the Ludwig-Maximilian University (group of Prof. Gaub). Between 2004-2009, she was Junior Scientist at the National Nanotechnology Lab in Lecce (Italy), where she became permanent staff scientist between 2010-14. Since February 2014, she is tenured Team Leader at the IIT, Nanochemistry Facility, Genova, Italy.
Her research interests include preparation, characterization and biomedical applications of nanostructured materials made of entirely inorganic or organic-inorganic materials in which various components, having different properties (such as optical, chemical, and magnetic) are properly tailored and combined into single nano-objects. She has co-authored more than 80 papers (more than 25 as corresponding author) in international peered review journals, 6 book chapters, 3 issued patents. She has been recipient of the International Award “Primo Levi” from the Italian Chemical Society for young investigators in 2013, and the award named “Apulia Women Talent 2012” assigned by Lions International Club.
La Dra. Pellegrino impartirá una conferencia en el transcurso de la III Reunión Bienal del GEQB.
